On 5th August 2009, St. Martin's Girls Rugby team participated in a Tournament which was held in Precious Blood Girls-Riruta. The Tournament involved three schools - St. Martin's Girls, Precious Blood Girls and Nembu Girls. St. Martin's had 35 players.
The teams were grouped according to classes - Form 1 - Three. The different teams were arranged into several pools. Each game took 15 minutes and there were 12 games in total. St. Martin's participated in 9 games and each class (Form) played at least 3 games.
St. Martins Form One girls played three games and reached the finals, beating Precious Blood Girls with 3-1 and got 15 points. Form 2 girls from our school played 2 games, made it to the Semi but were beaten by Nembu Girls 2-1. The Form 3 girls (my class) played good games all through. We reached the finals and though we played hard, we were beaten 1-0.
At the end of the game, there was alot of excitement, singing and celebrations. We all assembled and Coaches and Referees talked to us. They commented on St. Martin's - that our players are among the best and said they see a bright Rugby future for us. We were also vouched the most disciplined, a virtue we have as St. Martin's students.
The winners will receive trophies from the Kenya Rugby Federation Union. It was a very exciting experience and we did our school proud.
